Austin Nedelcoff

Owner, Head Coach, BA, Level 1 CrossFit, CPT, TPI Certified Level 1, TPI Fitness Level 2

Austin attended The University of Northern Iowa where he played on their Division 1 golf team and earned a degree in secondary education. He started participating in CrossFit in 2013. He is a CrossFit Level 1 Coach as well as a CPT and TPI Fitness Level 2 Trainer. Austin competed with the CrossFit Kilo team at the Reebok CrossFit Games Regionals in 2014, 2015, and 2018, and competed with the CrossFit Kilo team at the Reebok CrossFit Games in 2015. Armand McCormick


Before earning his BA and MA in Exercise Science Armand served more than 4 years in the US MC as a infantryman. While serving, Armand recieved many awards and honors. He is the Director of XL Sports Acceleration. Armand is a CrossFit Level I Coach and holds many other strength and conditioning certifications as well. Armand placed 3rd in the North Central Regional in 2011 and finished tied for 23rd in the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games. Armand does the programming for CrossFit Kilo. Luke Schafer 


Luke graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2016 with a BA in Biology. He started interning at Crossfit Kilo and XL Sports Acceleration in 2014. He did this outside of school as he did not need an internship for his degree, but wanted to learn as much as he could from the coaches at Kilo. Luke has spent the last 3 summers working with athletes in the XL Sports Acceleration program at Denver Schools in Denver, IA. Luke competed on the regional team for Crossfit Kilo in 2014, 2015, and 2016 as well as on the 2015 Reebok Crossfit Games team. Luke competed as an individual at the 2017 and 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games Central Regional.

Julie DeLeon

BA, Level 1 CrossFit

Julie played collegiate basketball at Kansas Wesleyan University, where she was the Valedictorian and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education.  She later earned her Master of Arts degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University-Irvine.  Julie has seven years of experience teaching and coaching middle and high school basketball, track, and volleyball. Julie started participating in CrossFit in 2013 and became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in 2016.

Jacob Breitbach


Jake received his bachelor’s degree in integrative physiology from Coe College where he played football
for four years. He worked as a personal trainer for two years after college and eventually decided to go
back to PA school. He currently works as a PA at the University of Iowa Hospital. He started doing
CrossFit in 2012.

Katy Dennison

BA, Level 1 CrossFit, CPT

Growing up, Katy was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports.  She was a high school and collegiate athlete and then later found Crossfit in 2013 and got her L1 shortly after in 2014.  Katy attended Michigan State University where she earned her Bachelors of Science degree in nutrition.  Katy brings great energy and enthusiasm to our community.  She is passionate about helping others and making a difference in people’s lives in and outside of the gym.

McKenzie Wierda

You probably know him as “Mac.” Coach Mac is studying computer science at the University of Iowa. He’s always been active. Mac played football, ran track, and wrestled in high school. He’s trained weightlifting and now CrossFit for the last 5 years. Mac started coaching for us in 2016 and has been a great addition to our team!

Ben Ketelsen


Ben received his BA degree in Human Health Science-Health Coaching from the University of Iowa.  Ben competed for Iowa’s Men’s Gymnastics team for four years. He is now in his 7th year as the assistant coach for the Iowa Men’s Gymnastics team. He started doing CrossFit in 2014.
